Almost 2 years since updating this!
I have pruned a lot of my old projects from the right hand side. I am working on a new iteration of my TV show scheduler on my local network using an open database of TV shows (TheTVDb). It's working nicely, using lots of PHP, JQuery and caching :). When I've got it bug free, I'll host it.
Also I've been working on a download monitor. Currently it hooks into uTorrent, SabNZBd and Transmission and displays a webpage of download stats. It also gives nice controls for pausing/resuming all downloads and changing speeds. Very useful for shared household without QoS control.
However, these are all currently on hold as I'm working on my major project for my degree.

Well TVtimes is coming along well. I'm in the process of implementing a new backend using a large regular expression. Who knows if it'll speed things up,
but it was a hell of a learning experience.
There's still some bugs to iron out, but my main improvement will be the introduction of static cache for the season lists. These will not be done by the pull function, but by a different function. I have yet to iron out the logistics of it, but it will be generated at the users reqest, ie. a link will be present to get the season list and once it is cached the link will disappear. The cache will then not be updated.
Anywho, that's about it. For ideas on what I'm doing check the TVtimes drawing board.

The last month has been a hell of coursework and exams. So now that I'm finally free, I got to do some work on TVtimes. Implemented caching and better search... thing's I've wanted to have for a while. I've got a few days off now, so I might try to get some more good stuff done and maybe some HashFind updates too.
Also, due to a combination of piss poor search results and a rude moderator, I've migrated over to Torrentz from IsoHunt, so all links from TVTimes will give download pages from there.
Anywho, that's about all.

Sorry for any downtime: this site is back up!
I've changed host to BlueHost.
Diggering can be reached from www.diggering.co.uk and www.diggering.com.
Also, my new plan is to set up all my projects as subdomains on both domains. I'll work out how to do it...
Existing URLs should still work though. The links on the right work, and as I move them to subdomains, I'll change the link.
15 / 12 / 08
Most Importantly: If you can see this, you're seeing this site on my new hosting!
As I wanted to do more with my hosting, I've changed company to BlueHost; more expensive, but more gadgets, so it will entertain me for longer :)
They don't register .co.uk tlds, so I also own diggering.com.
The DNS nameservers for diggering.co.uk are currently being directed here, but it might take some time. Also, once they're directed, I'll have to make sure that everything works. I've never done this before!
Finally, the first aim for this new hosting is to set up all my projects as subdomains. At the minute just HashFind has been done: hashfind.diggering.com.
If you click on the links to the right, they'll direct you back to my old hosting (so they'll still work, at least for the next 24-72 hours).

I had some brainwaves last night about how easy it would be to implement the XML on Pull.
Because all my functions are split into sections, the cohesion is very good.
My pull function scrapes the page and returns an array.
My format function formats the array and the html page simply surrounds it and gives navigation.
Therefore I thought, all I'd need to do would be make a new format function, include it when a user asked for XML and print an XML page instead of
regular HTML. It kinda worked, but as with all things that "you think are easy", they rarely are.
It works, but there's just some extra things I want to do to it.
Alas, I have an assignment to finish for tomorrow. Maybe when it's done I can treat myself to kicking the crap outa this ^_^

Nothing much to update about. Just doing courseworks at the moment, so it might be a wee while until I get back to
anything. I was thrilled when reading a reply to a comment on TorrentFreak to
find that one of the readers
appreciates HashFind. It gives me some incentive to update it. Once I'm done with Pull, I'll head over and start
again. I'd like to predict in the new year. :)

Yes, I should be doing work.
Anywho, took the night off last night and coded out the contact page for Pull. It's pretty much just for submitting
bugs and asking for shows on the front page.
Also, added some extra code to the backend. Just a little tweak.
Here on Diggering, I added a project I remembered about working on a few years ago. As usual it's
incomplete, but check it out:
Calendar project.
That's about it. Back to the coursework.

Pull project is coming along nicely
The todo is on the main page. It's keeping my interest surprisingly. Probably because unlike HashFind, it's still not
quite working up to my expectations. HashFind is. Once I've finished this, I'll get back to HashFind.
Anywho, while recoding the backing (what's that, my 3rd time?) I noticed that scrubs is coming back someday! Yay.
Check it out - Upcoming Scrubs
It is indeed a very awesome day.

I didn't feel like starting to tackle the huge amount of coursework I really have to do, and so I decided to try and
complete my TV Pull project.
Surprise surprise, I failed. Unexpected errors cropped up and as always more and more ideas on expansions kept me from
deciding it was finished. It works and works well. But there's so many things I want to add on.
I also stumbled across an error in TV.com's episode list, so I rewrote the backend function for grabbing the data again,
pretty much from scratch so it could dodge the error. I think it's now a little slower (less regex :) ),
but alot more robust (more explode :D).
As usual, only lots of random use will show up any other bugs.
Also, the CSS is pretty much done, I think it looks pretty good.
There were some other decisions that needed made. I won't witter on about them, mostly because I want to go to bed.

On a completely unwebsitey, unprogramming note, I designed some hoodies a while back and picked them up today.
To see the entire adventure, see the project Hoodies on the right →
On a completely website note, I have a new project (I know, eventually I'll get back to HashFind) which I'm about
2/3's of the way through. I've called it "TV Pull" because it pulls all the episode airing dates from
TV.com.
Type in a show number and it'll tell you the last episode aired and the coming up episodes, and lets you search for
them all on IsoHunt. I have some bugs to iron out and some major CSS work to make it look pretty, but that should be
it, although I keep having other fun ideas...
Also, once it's done, I'll put the source code up for grabbing and correcting.

As I said I would do in my previous update, using custom error pages and some PHP, you can now search for your hash using:
http://www.diggering.co.uk/hashfind/v2/[HASH HERE]
Also, HashFind now has it's own custom 404 error pages
as well.
Finally, I've archived older update posts to help the front page look less crowded.
These were all easy updates to do, taking a total of about half an hour. Yay.
03 / 11 / 08
In the hope that I could make HashFind cooler (I know, I know, is it possible?), I had hoped to make some kind of cool
searchy thing like many sites, where http://www.diggering.co.uk/hashfind/v2/[HASH HERE] would bring up
the tracker list. Some clever PHP and error pages.
[DONE] - see update above
However, my hosting, although cheap and easy (mwhah), is also a little limited. So I can only have one error page for
this whole domain. At the minute it's a general 404, but, now on my todo list
is adding functionality to get the page location, so I can do custom errors.
Once that's implemented, then I could get the searchy thing done.
Little baby steps people... Also, don't expect it soon.

Yes, wow, an update so soon!
Just an update of HashFind. So, as reported in my previous entry, I decided to change the link, even though it wasn't
complete. And then I overwrote the backend page with the frontend page.
Yes, I really am that stupid.
And yes, I didn't have a backup.
So for the last few days I have been working hard at this and ignoring my ever increasing workload. Never smart.
However, HashFind should now be up and working as it was. The backend is far superior, should be faster (hopefully) and
now has the ability for me to easily add other torrent pages to be scraped for trackers. Yay.
Also, the whole reason I was editing the frontend was to make look better and get the javascript more cross-browser
compatible. Which it now is. I think FF still has some issues (surprise surprise) with the highlight and copy links.
I'm sure some tinkering some day will sort it out.
That's all really. As I write this, I am now thinking that I should archive previous entries to another page. Maybe
I'll start that too someday. - [DONE]
But from now on it's back to studies, so don't expect anything to update for a while!

As usual my projects go on hold when I get stuck. Version 2 of "hashfind" is sort of half completed. And I had such high
hopes. If you want to see it (in all it's half working glory) change the v1 on the address to v2.
The tracker list works and looks better. Nothing else works.
I've also just helped someone set up their first website. It' may not look amazing (and did take a night to code) but
it's still something to have on the portfolio.
It's La Cortanela. Maybe they'll ask me to do some work when they decide to
add more pages.
16 / 08 / 08
My hosting provider has recently updated to PHP5, which does not supress warnings.
Therefore, some strange messages may appear on some pages and prjects until I get round to touching up the code.
On a brighter note, this has forced me to start on version 2 of "hashfind", my torrent hash locator. Hopefully it'll
generally look better and work slightly better.
I'll replace the link on the right when I've completed it.
